Our story.

“Our goal is to inspire a generation of local kids to reach their potential and

dream big.”

— Coach Lee Miles

A DREAM

Aspire Basketball Academy was born from a dream many years ago by Director and Head Coach Lee Miles. With the goal to inspire a generation of local kids to reach their potential and dream big! A place where they can play ball, make friends and be guided in a holistic approach and feel connected to a basketball family.

Our passion for the game is infectious, our knowledge is second to none and if we do not know we will go above and beyond to learn, oh and our venue is perfect for all age groups, all levels, for the serious athlete and for the athlete that just loves to play. Our framework and pathways are progressive. Our academy sessions concentrate specifically on the whole athlete. No matter what level or stage your child is at we can offer a valuable basketball experience.

Coach Lee’s dream to establish a professional local basketball training centre that focuses on consistent long-term development for all junior players from all clubs and schools and away from politics became a reality with the support of some very special friends, family members, and some very special relationships that had formed over and during the last 6 years. With a burning passion and many years later Aspire basketball Academy was born.

Our passion is infectious and our desire to grow junior basketball players, our ‘building champions’ is our goal. That’s our story - will you be part of our next chapter?

OUR MISSION

A place where all juniors can go to reach their dreams in a family-friendly environment with a holistic coaching approach. We will shape the whole player with a long-term focus.

We Build Champions for life through basketball.

A MESSAGE FROM LEE

We want to show you, our basketball families, the ASPIRE way and what we truly believe is the right way!

I believe basketball can help shape lives, and the experiences it can offer are more than just sport. We want to provide that experience to all of our players. We believe our passion and infectious love of basketball will help kids grow their healthy love of the game for life that will never leave them.

We aim to use basketball as a tool to shape players in becoming great humans and employable adults with good values and strong life skills.  All of our players will learn experiences from being part of a basketball team such as failing, working hard, succeeding through set goals and hard work. They will also experience winning and losing, being injured, values of respect, responsibility, working autonomously and as a team, accountability, and persistence, staying active, not getting your own way and being a kind person.

Basketball teaches our children that realistic short term and long-term measurable goals can be achieved with the right guidance and environment. It teaches that the path you set for yourself will likely change and you must adapt and be persistent. You will most likely take little detours and suffer setbacks and obstacles, but you can get back on further up the track through being resilient, adaptable, and persistent, being a kind person and not expecting someone else to do it for you.

We stand by our tagline - building champions - that’s what we aim to do!

We don’t do politics; we coach kids with a clear and direct pathway. We are all about the kids, after all it is their time and their journey and their experience!

I have been involved in sports from elite level to grassroots now for over 30 years and the level of attention and quality training Lee and Aspire hold themselves accountable to, is to be admired and revered. The progression from one week to the next is outstanding and the long term development in the athlete is preserved to the highest standard.

Lee makes everyone feel so welcome and valued. The rapport he develops with every athlete through fun and engaging sessions not only sees their basketball skills develop immensely but also their self confidence and self worth. Every session is specifically designed to meet the needs of each athlete. From a person who grew up playing high level basketball I can attest to Aspire being a quality program. My daughter and her friends just love being a part of it!.
